World Pneumonia Day 2023

Abu Umara Medical and Dental College (AUMDC), in collaboration with Ali Fatima Hospital (AFH), marked World Pneumonia Day 2023 with an impactful event held in the main auditorium of Green International University. The event was organized in partnership with the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Punjab, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests including Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Shad (Urban Health Consultant, UNICEF), Dr. Muhammad Imran Qureshi (National Program Officer, EPI-WHO), and Dr. Samra (Assistant Director, EPI Punjab). They were warmly received by Dr. Amir Gillani, Rector of Green International University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tariq Bhatti, Principal AUMDC, and Dr. Dimple Mustafa, Medical Superintendent of Ali Fatima Hospital.

Guest speakers provided valuable insights into the evolution of the EPI program in Pakistan, the critical role of UNICEF in advancing immunization efforts, and WHO's contributions to vaccine implementation and outreach.

Presentations were delivered by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tariq Bhatti, Head of the Department of Paediatrics at AFH, and Dr. Humaira Nazir, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine at AUMDC. They highlighted the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of pneumonia in both adults and children.

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Dimple Mustafa, Medical Superintendent of Ali Fatima Hospital, expressing gratitude to the speakers, partners, and participants for making the event a success.
